I retired from teaching after 30 years as a band director in Texas. While I still enjoy working with students and exercise my 'band director chops' whenever I get the chance, one of the things I looked forward to in my retirement was making a whole lot more sawdust in my shop (the physical exhaustion of being a high school band director and power tools is not a good combination...). Like many woodworkers, I quickly realized that I really only needed one coffee table. The obvious solution was to make them for others! So here we are.
I live and work in Houston, Texas, where I share my house and shop with my 12 lb wolf/bear/demon dog (more commonly known as a Schipperkie). I play oboe and english horn in two community symphonies and concert band, golf (when it is warm), do some clinicing and teaching, cook, travel when I get the chance, and make big pieces of wood into small pieces of wood. I am a member of the Woodworkers Club of Houston, as well as several music organizations. This site is mainly for pictures of my work, and I'll have more pictures posted as I get them. In the meantime, if you see something you like or have a project in mind, drop me a note on the Contact page and we'll see what we can do! Thanks! R. Michael Hardy - Woodworking Band Director |
