Log drums, wooden wind chimes, and LOTS of cajons!
This is the same design I used for the cajons I took to TMEA. Still have a few left, so drop me a note!
Many of the cajons I have made have been as promotional items for percussion organizations. The head will have a unique handpainted design and your logo or message.
My cajons have string snares, which are like the traditional snares in Spanish cajons. I use piano wire, which is plenty strong (you'll probably collapse the box before you break a string!), with a few added wooden beads to give a little more snap. The bass note on these is very rich, and high up on the tapa. I started making these for the woodworking aspect, but I can honestly say these are some of the best sounding cajons I have played.
Protecting the workshop from squirrels! A very important job for a Schipperkie.
All the cajons on this page are stained birch plywood with 1/8" birch ply heads (tapas). I can make them with solid wood tops, or a solid wood box all around. Contact me, and we can discuss what you want to do.
